Congratulations to Krisma DesPortes, P2, PharmD/MPH Candidate, has been awarded the prestigious Navy Grad School Scholarship!  

She is the first student from Touro University California’s CEHS Public Health Program and College of Pharmacy to do so.  Her scholarship will provide up to $134,600, including monthly salary and housing allowance for two years.

Upon her graduation in 2015, Krisma will embark on a mission to provide leadership and expertise to support our country, the men and women who defend it, their families and the world at large. She may be required either: to lead personnel at one of the highly acclaimed National Naval Medical Centers in Bethesda, Maryland, Portsmouth, Virginia, or San Diego, California; or to provide administrative support aboard an aircraft carrier, one of two dedicated hospital ships (the USNS Comfort or USNS Mercy) orin Naval operational units worldwide.

Congratulations to Dr. Robert Ignoffo who received the 2013 Hematology Oncology Pharmacist Association (HOPA) Award of Excellence

This award is given to recognize a HOPA member who has made a significant, sustained contribution to or provided excellent leadership in improving or supporting hematology/oncology pharmacy.

Congratulations to Dr. Paul Perry who received the 2013 Judith J. Saklad Memorial Award

This award is presented annually to a senior psychiatric pharmacy practitioner who has achieved a level of professional distinction and demonstrates a continuing dedication to the practice of psychiatric pharmacy. Like Dr. Saklad, this practitioner represents the qualities and ideals of professional enthusiasm, in addition to possessing a passion for optimizing patient care.

Message from the Dean

The College of Pharmacy is pleased to welcome Dr. Gordon McCarter and Dr. Clipper Young in their new roles in the Office of Pharmacy Student Services. The Office of Pharmacy Student Services provides support and assistance to pharmacy students, working in a closely coordinated manner with faculty and staff in the College of Pharmacy and the University Office of Student Services.

Dr. Gordon McCarter is the Interim Assistant Dean of Pharmacy Student Services. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of California Berkeley and is one of the founding faculty in the College. Dr. McCarter has contributed to the Biological Sciences Track in the College of Pharmacy for the past 10 years, and will continue to teach on a more limited basis in this area.

Dr. Clipper Young is a Pharmacy Student Development Specialist and Assistant Professor. He obtained his Pharm.D. from Touro University California  and has served as an Pharmacy Education and Administration Fellow in the Office of Pharmacy Student Services for the past two years. Dr. Young is currently completing his M.P.H. from the University of California Berkeley, and will be contributing to the teaching in Track 5.

Dr. McCarter and Dr. Young are both highly committed to the success of our students. Please join me in welcoming them to their new roles in the College of Pharmacy, and I encourage you to contact them.
